Watch Your Thoughts

WATCH YOUR THOUGHTS

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

It is said that thoughts are the seedlings of realities. What you predominantly think about becomes your reality. Our thoughts control our lives and determine our destiny. This is why our minds are the battle ground of our fight with the force of darkness.

The Scriptures urge us to cast down imaginations or thoughts that are variant with the word of God out of our mind. To live victoriously, every thought that originates from the devil must be immediately cast out of your mind. The command to “cast down” indicates the fact that you have the ability to decide what thoughts stay in your mind and what thoughts you cast out of your mind. God has given you the power to control the kind of thoughts you allow to stay in your mind.

The question is how to discern which thoughts originate from God and which ones are from the devil? Generally, thoughts that originate from God are true, honest, pure, just and lovely. They are thoughts that reflect God’s nature and are in harmony with His will. Thoughts that originate from the devil are false, hypocritical, filthy and self-centered. They reflect the devil’s charater and bring out the worst in us.

Let us maintain a high level of awareness and keep a perpetual watch over our minds. We must not entertain negative or evil thoughts in our mind. Your success, prosperity, peace, and your destiny depend on the quality of your thoughts.

Prayer: Father, help me develop the discipline of keeping watch over my mind. Help me meditate day and night on Your word.

Scriptural Reading: 2 Corinthians 10:1-6

1 Now I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ — who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.

2 But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
