You Are God"s Masterpiece

YOU ARE GOD’S MASTERPIECE

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praise of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

Sometimes even believers have difficulty remembering their purpose in life. In our busy day to day lives, it’s easy to forget how wonderfully and purposefully we are designed by our Creator.

   • First, we are God’s peculiar people. We don’t have to fight for a place in the house of the Lord. Instead of seeking Him, He first sought us because He wanted an eternal relationship with us.

   • Second, we are members of a royal priesthood. In Old Testament days a king could not be a priest and a priest could not be a king. The two offices were separate and distinct. But in Christ, God has called every believer into a new category. He has made us both kings and priests. As kings we have the authority to rule; as priests we have access to God.

   • Third, we are a holy nation. “Holy” simply means “set apart”. In other words we have been marked as God’s children by His Holy Spirit, who placed an eternal seal upon our souls. Our sins have been washed away in the precious blood of Christ.

   • Fourth, we are God’s own possession. You are so valuable to the Heavenly Father that He purchased your eternal salvation at a great cost: the life of His only Son. Now we are His.

Do you believe that about yourself? If you do, does your life reflect your God-given position? God has invested His grace into our lives; it is our responsibility to live our lives by His grace.

Prayer: Thank You Lord, for Your grace that has made me a special person in Your eyes.

Scriptural Reading: 1 Peter 2:1-9

1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,

3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

The Chosen Stone and His Chosen People

4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,

5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,

“Behold, I lay in Zion

A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”

7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,

“The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,”

8 and

“A stone of stumbling

And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
