Stand Up For Jesus

Stand Up For Jesus

STAND UP FOR JESUS

If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 1 Peter 4:14

Regardless of the opposition we may face in the world, we must always affirm the Lordship of Christ in all situations. We must remind ourselves always that we do not belong to ourselves: we belong to the Lord. He is our Lord and as such, He is responsible for us. He looks out for us and as a good shepherd, goes out of the way to seek for us when we go astray. Because of what He does for us, we must remember to give Him a special place of Lordship and honour in our hearts.

As believers, when we give Christ a special place in our hearts, we exalt Him as the object of our love and loyalty. We recognize His perfection, magnify His glory and extol His greatness. As part of our commitment to Him we submit ourselves to God’s will, realizing that His intentions for us are always for our good. That means that even when we are going through suffering and tough times, we must remain dedicated to the Lord.

No matter what happens to us, God loves us and is able to bring us help.

To be dedicated to the Lord in the face of persecution and suffering demands that we set our mind and affections on heavenly values and not earthly ones. If you are preoccupied with possessions, pleasures and popularity, you will live in perpetual fear of the enemy’s attacks. Whatever we set our hearts on, will determine what we value and give priority to.

Prayer: Pray for the grave to always honour the Lord Jesus wherever you go.

Scriptural Reading: 1 Peter 4:7-19

7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Suffering for God’s Glory

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;

13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.

16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God i…
