Abide Faith, Hope, Love

Abide Faith, Hope, Love

HOPE

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. —1 Corinthians 13:13

Hope is a living thing. Peter wrote that God has given us a new birth into a ‘living hope’. Paul also says hope “abides.” To abide means “to live.” Only living things abide, so hope is a living thing and you have to feed it with the Word so it can grow.

If you’ll do that, hope will paint a picture of God’s promise fulfilled in your life. It will give you an inner image of yourself healed and prosperous, with your loved ones saved, your marriage restored or whatever else you’ve been hoping for. Hope will paint that picture so clearly inside you and make it so real; you will become blind to what you see on the outside.

As you meditate on those inner pictures hope has painted with God’s Word, you’ll begin to believe you are what the Word of God says you are. You’ll begin to realize you’re not what the world or your parents or your friends say you are. You’re not even what you think you are. You are what GOD says you are! You’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!

Let me give you an example: You have a condition that doctors are finding hard to handle. So you go on your knees and pray to God for your healing. You begin to locate and memorize all verses on healing in the Bible. You meditate constantly on these verses till you begin to get a clear picture of yourself healed. This picture in your heart becomes your confession. You’ll actually get to the point where you don’t pay any attention to how you feel anymore, because you’ve seen yourself healed in Jesus with the eyes of your spirit.

If you’ll continue to look at yourself healed and not let the devil shake you, if you’ll refuse to complain and tell everybody how terrible you feel, one of these days you see on the inside will become what how you feel on the outside. He’ll be healed! That’s what hope does. It creates a miracle working atmosphere.

Prayer: Bind and cast out the spirit of hopelessness; ask the Lord to fill you with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Scriptural Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

1. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

3. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;

5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;

6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

7. bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cea…
